The
Estimate & Bid:
Ouch! Isn't that what
you say when you fill your gas tank?
Me too!
For 37 years I've been driving "Old Betsy," my
pickup truck, out to give "FREE" estimates. Until
recently the cost of gasoline was a minor expense. Things
are different now. Estimates just can't be free all the
time unless the price of gas drops back to about $1.50/gallon
or less.. As of now all on-site bids, up to 10 miles out
(20 miles round trip) are charged $35 which must be paid when
I arrive on the job site and before I work up the written estimate. This
charge is not for the estimate, it is for the gasolene and will
be refunded from the cost of the completed job. Cash
or personal, business checks are fine. There is an additional
charge of $1 for each additional round-trip mile. Job estimates
will not be provided until after I have received you gas surcharge
for the required gas. All gas charges will always be FULLY
REFUNDED When The Job Is
Completed
Here is my home address, used for calculating
round-trip fuel charges:

FUEL
SURCHARGE
A fuel charge is the ONLY
charge for otherwise FREE on-site job
estimates for those instances where I am not hired to
do the job. Remember if I am hired the entire fuel surcharge
is fully refunded from the finished job.
It is always based on distance. A
job site that is 10 miles away is actually a 20 mile round
trip. It is always the round-trip that is used for the
calculations.
